The Fracking-Gas Drilling Continues

As of August 8th, 2023, the gas drilling and fracking continues. It’s been about 14 years since 2008, when the first drill rig appeared on a farm in Dimock, Pa., in my Susquehanna County.

We now have 537 drill sites with 2104 gas wells situated on these sites. The count continues as new gas wells keep happening.

No end in sight. We and about 20 other counties in Pennsylvania have this industry. We are in the top 4 counties in production. More impacts to the environment continue.

There are over 55 compressor stations, refineries, to prepare the gas for use and transported through a web of pipelines that cover our county. Most of the gas is being exported out of our county.
